CAVAC’s Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) system does more than measure our impacts, but is also a management tool designed to help identify where we need to adjust each intervention. CAVAC follows the Donor Committee for Enterprise Development (DCED) standards, and a 2013 DCED audit of CAVAC’s results measurement system declared it ‘strong’.
CAVAC’s M&E system has been developed to support the following:
- Continuous learning
To ensure well-structured, continuous learning, and improvement (adaptive management), CAVAC’s M&E system provides accessible information, so that managers can understand what is happening in real time and make any necessary adjustments.
- Portfolio management
CAVAC has been designed to be flexible through a portfolio of interventions and approaches. The M&E system enables program managers to track progress from the earliest stages of implementation so that managers can quickly scale up successful interventions and move resources accordingly.
- Progress reports and impact projections
CAVAC’s M&E system is able to provide regular reporting on intermediate progress and can give projections on the potential results or impacts. The impact projections are not use as hard target, but it help to communicate with stakeholders and shape expectations.
