CAVAC commissioned a study on high value crops with export potential as part of the Government drive to diversify Cambodian agriculture. Different from most existing value chain studies, this study started by looking at the demand side in key markets. After applying a set of filters, nine crops/products were selected as having the best prospects for future development and export. The report describes the characteristics of each crop linked with market intelligence, globally traded varieties, technical requirements, standards, and the opportunities for Cambodia to penetrate as a new player. The report also presents recommended policy interventions on branding, market access and market relevance, to strengthen sub-sector competitiveness and to attract FDI related to these crops.
